The Clacks in Discworld and Roundworld

Readers of the late Terry Pratchett’s Discworld novels will come across the Clacks. The Clacks is a semaphore system used for sending messages rapidly across the Discworld and is explicitly non-magical.

Here in Roundworld, similar semaphore systems arose in the late 18th and early 19th centuries. We’ll look at a couple of these systems, and muse on the similarities and differences to Discworld practice.
