Those that know me well will know that when I have time I will play role-playing computer games. Having very much enjoyed my first playing of Baldur's Gate + Tales of the Sword Coast (I am now replaying it but generally restricting my party to just two with occasional assistance from others) I decided to have a look at one of the strategy guides. Computer Manuals had the one for TotSC so I asked for a review copy. I found it informative and it filled in a number of elements that I had missed. In that way it enhanced my enjoyment of the game at a reasonable cost.

I then decide (at my own expense) to look at the guide for the basic game. While I realise that it is hard to cover games with so much room for individual choice I was still very much disappointed. I think it poor value for money and lacks a good deal of information. As spoilers are adequately documented there is little reason for not providing a more comprehensive listing. I wonder just how much access the authors had to the game design documents.
