Notes from the site administrators.: Prof. Hopper honoured with CBE

[30/12/06] Professor Andrew Hopper is made a CBE in the New Years Honours List.

Prof. Hopper is probably known to the older members of the ACCU as the founder of Acorn, an influential techonology firm that launched the Acorn and Archimedes computers.and had a part in building the BBC Micro computer.

Acorn spawned a subsidiary called Advanced RISK Machines (ARM), an important player in the mobile and portable devices market.

He has been made a Commander of the British Empire for services to the computer industry.

Prof. Hopper is currently head of the University of Cambridge computer lab.
